Seeing Stories was founded by Jo SiMalaya Alcampo an award-winning video maker, photographer, DJ and community worker.

In 2003, Jo combined her work as an advocate for marginalized communities with her love for artistic expression and started a production company dedicated to telling community stories.

Seeing Stories has worked with established and emerging artists who explore issues such as cultural identity, wellness, and equity. 

Jo has developed projects that engage diverse communities in the artistic process including immigrant women, queer youth, consumer/survivors of the mental health system, and migrant workers.

Jo is currently studying Integrated Media at the Ontario College of Art & Design where she was awarded an entrance scholarship for her outstanding community involvement.
